Ingredients
Scale
Protein and Seasoning
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
Grains and Liquids
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups Minute Rice, uncooked
Toppings
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook 1 pound of ground beef until it is browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease to keep the dish from being oily.
- Add seasoning and water: Stir in 1 packet of taco seasoning and 2 cups of water. Mix thoroughly and bring the mixture to a boil, allowing the seasoning to fully dissolve and flavor the beef.
- Add rice: Reduce the heat to low, then stir in 2 cups of uncooked Minute Rice. Mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Cook rice: Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the rice to cook for about 5 minutes or until tender, absorbing the liquid and flavors.
- Add salsa and cheese: Remove the lid and stir in 1 cup of salsa and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, allowing the cheese to melt and the salsa to distribute evenly.
- Serve: Turn off the heat once everything is well combined and the cheese is melted. Serve the taco rice hot for a delicious and comforting meal.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce grease and fat content.
- For a spicier dish, add jalapeños or hot sauce along with the salsa.
- Minute Rice cooks quickly, so avoid overcooking to prevent mushiness.
- Can be topped with fresh cilantro, sour cream, or avocado for extra flavor.
- Make it vegetarian by substituting ground beef with seasoned tofu or a plant-based meat alternative.
