Description

A vibrant and flavorful Thai Hot and Spicy Beef recipe featuring tender slices of beef stir-fried with fragrant red curry paste, kaffir lime leaves, garlic, and fiery chilies. This quick and easy dish is perfect for a spicy meal served with jasmine rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon red curry paste
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • ½ tablespoon fish sauce
  • ½ tablespoon white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 4 kaffir lime leaves, torn
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 chilies, sliced (adjust for heat)
  • 10 ounces beef, sliced thin against the grain

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat to prepare for stir-frying.
  2. Add aromatics and curry paste: Add 1 tablespoon of red curry paste, torn kaffir lime leaves, minced garlic, and sliced chilies to the wok. Stir-fry for about 20 seconds until the mixture becomes fragrant, releasing its aromatic flavors.
  3. Cook the beef: Add the thinly sliced beef to the wok and stir-fry until the beef is just cooked through and tender, ensuring not to overcook.
  4. Add sauces and simmer: Stir in 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, ½ tablespoon fish sauce, ½ tablespoon white sugar, and 3 tablespoons water. Mix well until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is evenly combined, coating the beef and aromatics.
  5. Serve immediately: Remove the wok from heat and serve the hot and spicy beef immediately, ideally accompanied by steamed jasmine rice for an authentic Thai meal experience.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of chilies according to your heat preference.
  • Use fresh kaffir lime leaves for the best aroma; dried leaves can be used but will be less fragrant.
  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • This dish cooks quickly, so have all ingredients prepared beforehand.
  • Serve with jasmine rice to balance the spicy and savory flavors.
