Description

This Tater Tot Sausage Casserole is a comforting and satisfying dish perfect for breakfast or dinner. With a creamy sauce, savory sausage, crispy tater tots, and gooey cheese, it’s a family favorite that’s easy to make and even easier to enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Casserole:

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Top Layer:

  • 3 cups frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions (sliced, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Sausage and Vegetables: In a skillet, cook sausage, onion, and bell pepper until browned and softened, about 7 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  3. Make Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, and black pepper. Combine with sausage mixture.
  4. Assemble Casserole: Spread the mixture in the baking dish. Layer tater tots on top and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with green onions.
