Description

This Sweet and Spicy Garlic Steak Pasta is a flavorful, quick-to-make dish featuring tender seared steak tossed with al dente pasta, garlic, honey, soy sauce, and a kick of red pepper flakes. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal, it blends savory, sweet, and spicy notes balanced by fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

Steak and Sauce

  • 12 oz sirloin or ribeye steak
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil salted water and cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside for later.
  2. Prepare the steak: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper. Sear the steak for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking.
  3. Add garlic and honey: Reduce heat to medium-low, then add the minced garlic and honey into the skillet. Stir frequently and cook for about 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant but not burnt.
  4. Make the sauce: Pour in the low-sodium soy sauce and sprinkle the red pepper flakes. Let the mixture simmer gently for about 2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  5. Combine pasta and steak: Slice the steak into strips or bite-sized pieces and add it back to the skillet. Then add the cooked pasta and toss everything together, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley or basil over the dish before serving to add freshness and color.

Notes

  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to control spice level.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to keep sodium in check.
  • Sirloin or ribeye can be substituted with your favorite steak cut.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pasta and tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Allow the steak to rest a few minutes after cooking for juicier results.
