Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Toast Pecans: In a medium skillet, toast the pecans over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning and to bring out their natural aroma.
- Add Maple Syrup Mixture: Add the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to the skillet with the toasted pecans. Stir thoroughly to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Cook and Coat Pecans: Continue cooking the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly to ensure the maple syrup thickens evenly and coats each pecan, about 3-5 minutes until glossy and sticky.
- Cool the Pecans: Remove the skillet from heat and quickly spread the coated pecans onto a piece of parchment paper, separating them to prevent clumping as they cool.
- Break Apart and Serve: Once completely cooled and the coating is set, break apart any clusters and enjoy your maple candied pecans as a snack or garnish.
Notes
- Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor and a natural sweetness.
- Be sure to stir constantly after adding syrup to prevent burning and ensure an even coating.
- Cool on parchment paper or a non-stick surface to avoid sticking and to make handling easier.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or nutmeg along with the cinnamon.
