Description

These Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms are a crowd-pleasing appetizer that combines flavorful Italian sausage, creamy cheeses, and aromatic herbs, all stuffed into tender mushroom caps and baked to perfection. Perfect for parties, gatherings, or as a delicious snack!

For the stuffed mushrooms:

  • 24 large white mushrooms, stems removed and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Cook the sausage: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  3. Prepare the filling: Add chopped mushroom stems, onion, and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened. Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Stuff the mushrooms: Spoon the filling into mushroom caps and place them on the baking sheet. Top each mushroom with a little mozzarella.
  5. Bake: Bake for 20 minutes until mushrooms are tender and cheese is melted and golden.
