Ingredients
Scale
Sweet Potatoes
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into thin rounds
Seasoning and Sauce
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Fresh thyme, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC) to get it ready for roasting the sweet potatoes.
- Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Peel the sweet potatoes and slice them into thin, even rounds to ensure uniform cooking.
- Coat Sweet Potatoes: In a large resealable bag, combine the sweet potato slices with minced garlic, olive oil, melted butter, garlic salt, cracked pepper, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Seal the bag and shake well to evenly coat all the slices with the mixture.
- Arrange in Baking Dish: Lightly butter a baking dish to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated sweet potato slices in a spiral pattern inside the dish for an attractive presentation.
- Add Garnish: Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves over the top and add extra Parmesan cheese if desired to enhance flavor and visual appeal.
- Roast: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and roast the sweet potatoes for 30-35 minutes. Check towards the end of cooking to avoid burning and to ensure they are tender and golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately. Garnish with additional fresh thyme if desired for an added burst of freshness and aroma.
Notes
- For a crispier texture, broil the sweet potatoes for the last 2-3 minutes of roasting, watching closely to prevent burning.
- You can substitute Parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a sharper taste.
- Fresh thyme can be replaced with rosemary or sage to vary the herb flavor.
- Use a mandoline slicer for evenly thin sweet potato slices for consistent cooking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best texture.
