Description

Million Dollar Deviled Eggs are a classic appetizer made with creamy, flavorful filling using mayo, butter, mustards, and pickle juice. These deviled eggs are easy to prepare, perfect for parties or gatherings, and can be enhanced with bacon pieces and a sprinkle of paprika for extra taste and presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Eggs

  • 12 large eggs

Filling

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons sweet gherkin pickle juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • â…› teaspoon salt
  • â…› teaspoon pepper
  • Dash Tabasco sauce (optional)

Topping

  • Paprika (for sprinkling)
  • Bacon pieces (optional)
  • Small slices of sweet gherkin pickle (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Hard Boil the Eggs: Place the 12 large eggs in a large saucepan and cover them with cold water. Transfer the saucepan to the stovetop and turn the heat to high. Once the water begins to boil, boil the eggs for one minute, then cover the pan with a lid and remove it from heat. Let the eggs sit covered for 17 minutes to cook through. Drain the hot water and transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool. Once cooled, peel the eggs and set them aside.
  2. Prepare the Egg Filling: Slice each peeled egg in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a medium-sized bowl. Add mayonnaise, softened butter, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, sweet gherkin pickle juice, sugar, salt, pepper, and a dash of Tabasco sauce if using. Use a fork to mash all the ingredients together until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assemble the Deviled Eggs: Spoon the yolk mixture evenly into the hollowed egg white halves. Sprinkle the tops with paprika for color and flavor. Optionally, add bacon pieces on top for some crunch and extra taste. You can also garnish with small slices of sweet gherkin pickle if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For perfectly peeled eggs, use slightly older eggs if possible, or gently tap and roll them to crack the shell before peeling.
  • Adjust the amount of Tabasco sauce according to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • Butter adds richness and makes the filling extra creamy; be sure it is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Bacon pieces add a smoky crunch, but you can omit them for a vegetarian version.
  • The deviled eggs can be made a few hours ahead and refrigerated, just cover tightly to keep them fresh.
