Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add wet ingredients: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine dry and wet: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined—do not overmix.
- Prepare cream cheese layer: In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Layer and bake: Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over it. Top with the remaining bread batter and smooth the surface. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and glaze: Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice to make the glaze. Drizzle over the cooled bread before serving.
