Description

This Honey Mustard Chicken recipe features juicy, tender chicken breasts glazed with a flavorful combination of honey, Dijon mustard, and garlic. The chicken is first seared to achieve a beautiful golden crust, then baked to perfection in the oven, resulting in a deliciously sweet and tangy main dish that’s quick to prepare and perfect for any weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Honey Mustard Sauce

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the chicken.
  2. Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, combine honey, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to create the honey mustard sauce.
  3. Heat Skillet: Place a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to heat until shimmering.
  4. Season Chicken: Season each chicken breast with salt and pepper evenly on both sides.
  5. Sear Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the hot skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until each side is nicely browned.
  6. Add Sauce: Pour the prepared honey mustard mixture evenly over the seared chicken breasts in the skillet.
  7. Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is fully cooked through.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from the oven and garnish the chicken breasts with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can use chicken thighs if preferred, but adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • Ensure the skillet is oven-safe before placing it in the oven to avoid damage.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the honey mustard sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes to make a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
