Ingredients
Scale
Oreos and Decorations
- 1 package (14.3 oz) Halloween Oreos, crushed
- Candy pumpkins (for decoration)
- Gummy worms (for decoration)
- Halloween sprinkles (for decoration)
Filling
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
Instructions
- Crush the Oreos: Using a food processor or placing the Halloween Oreos in a zip-top bag, crush them with a rolling pin until you have fine crumbs. Set aside these crumbs for later layering.
- Make the cream cheese mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, softened unsalted butter, and powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy without lumps.
- Prepare the pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla and chocolate pudding mixes with the cold milk. Continue whisking until the pudding thickens, which will take about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Combine mixtures: Gently fold the thickened pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined. Then fold in the thawed whipped topping until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
- Assemble the dessert: In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, spread half of the crushed Oreos evenly on the bottom. Spread the combined pudding mixture evenly over the Oreo layer. Top the pudding layer with the remaining crushed Oreos.
- Decorate: Arrange candy pumpkins, gummy worms, and Halloween sprinkles over the top layer of crushed Oreos to create a festive and spooky “dirt” appearance.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled cake for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set and the flavors to meld before serving.
Notes
- For individual servings, layer the dirt cake in clear cups or mason jars for a fun presentation.
- If Halloween Oreos aren’t available, you can substitute with regular Oreos.
- For a richer chocolate flavor, replace the vanilla pudding mix with extra chocolate pudding mix.
- Ensure the cream cheese and butter are fully softened for smoother mixing.
- Use cold milk to help the pudding mix set properly.
