Description

French Onion Rice is a flavorful and comforting side dish that pairs perfectly with a variety of main courses. This easy recipe combines rice with French onion soup and beef broth, baked to perfection with butter and optional Parmesan cheese topping.

Ingredients

Scale

Rice:

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice

French Onion Soup Mixture:

  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed French onion soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Combine ingredients: In the baking dish, combine rice, French onion soup, beef broth, black pepper, and garlic powder if using. Stir to combine.
  3. Add butter: Place slices of butter evenly over the top.
  4. Bake: Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, stir the rice, then re-cover and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  5. Serve: If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes
