Instructions

  1. Soup: In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, and celery; cook until softened. Stir in garlic, then add chicken broth, shredded chicken, salt, pepper, thyme, and poultry seasoning. Simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in peas and heavy cream.
  2. Dumplings: Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and melted butter, stir until combined. Drop spoonfuls of dough into simmering soup. Cover and cook for 15 minutes without stirring.
  3. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a shortcut, use rotisserie chicken.
  • Add a bay leaf for extra flavor, remove before adding dumplings.
