A flavorful and spicy curry tofu burger recipe that blends aromatic Indian spices with firm tofu to create delicious vegetarian patties. Perfect for a unique meatless burger experience, these patties are pan-fried to a golden crisp and served with fresh tomato, raita, and mango & chili chutney on soft burger buns.

For the Tofu Patties
- 280g firm tofu
- 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- 2 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1.5 tsp curry powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp nigella seeds
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
- 4 tbsp plain flour
- 1 tbsp oil for frying
To Assemble
- 4 burger buns
- Tomato slices
- 2–4 tbsp raita
- 2 tbsp Geeta’s Mango & Chilli Chutney
Instructions
- Blend the Tofu: In a food processor or blender, process the firm tofu until it breaks down and resembles the texture of ground meat, creating a base for the burger patties.
- Mix Ingredients: Transfer the blended tofu to a bowl and add the finely chopped red onion, grated garlic, fresh ginger, garam masala, paprika, curry powder, chili powder, nigella seeds, tomato puree, chopped fresh coriander, and plain flour. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture can hold together.
- Form Patties: Shape the tofu mixture into 4 evenly sized burger patties, ensuring they are compact to avoid crumbling during cooking.
- Pan-Fry Patties: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan over low to medium heat. Place the patties in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and are heated through.
- Assemble Burgers: Lightly toast the burger buns if desired. Spread 2-4 tablespoons of raita onto the buns, then layer with the tofu patties, fresh tomato slices, and a dollop of Geeta’s Mango & Chilli Chutney. Serve immediately and enjoy.

- Ensure tofu is well pressed before blending to remove excess moisture for better patty consistency.
- Adjust chili powder according to your spice preference.
- To make it gluten-free, substitute plain flour with a gluten-free alternative like chickpea flour.
