Description

This Crispy Parmesan Potatoes recipe features golden, quartered yellow potatoes baked to perfection with a rich blend of melted butter, parmesan cheese, and garlic powder, creating a flavorful and crunchy side dish that’s perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Potatoes

  • 1 ½ pounds (680 g) yellow potatoes, well-scrubbed and rinsed

Seasoning & Coating

  • ¼ cup (57 g) butter, melted
  • ½ cup (50 g) grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven & Pan: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Set aside a 9×13 inch baking pan for later use.
  2. Wash & Cut Potatoes: Thoroughly scrub and rinse the yellow potatoes to ensure they are clean. Cut each potato into quarters, making sure the pieces are even in size for uniform cooking.
  3. Prepare the Baking Pan: Pour the melted butter evenly into the bottom of the baking pan, coating the surface. Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese over the butter, followed by the garlic powder.
  4. Arrange the Potatoes: Place the quartered potatoes on top of the butter-cheese mixture in a single, even layer. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bake: Place the pan on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, move the pan to the top rack and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes or until the potatoes are golden and crispy on the edges.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove the pan from the oven and let the potatoes sit for about 10 minutes to allow the coating to set. Gently remove the potatoes from the pan and serve warm as a delicious, crispy side dish.

Notes

  • Ensure the potato pieces are cut evenly for uniform baking.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor and crispiness.
  • Letting the potatoes rest after baking helps the coating to set and enhances crispiness.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding chopped fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme before baking.
  • This dish pairs excellently with grilled meats and roasted vegetables.
