Ingredients
Scale
Crescent Roll Base
- 1 can (8 ounces) crescent roll dough
Sausage Mixture
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
Egg Mixture
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Cheese Topping
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Garnish
- Fresh chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up into small crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess fat and set the cooked sausage aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare the Crescent Roll Base: Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, making sure to press the seams together so it forms a solid crust.
- Assemble the Casserole: Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the crescent roll crust in the baking dish, creating an even layer for the egg mixture.
- Mix the Egg Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until fully combined and smooth.
- Add Cheese and Bake: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage layer in the baking dish. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the cheese on top is melted and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired, then slice and serve warm for a comforting breakfast or brunch dish.
Notes
- You can substitute breakfast sausage with cooked bacon or ham if preferred.
- For a veggie boost, add chopped bell peppers, onions, or spinach into the egg mixture before baking.
- Use a mix of cheddar and mozzarella for a creamy, melty cheese topping, or try other cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for a spicy kick.
- Let the casserole cool for at least 5 minutes before cutting to help it set and hold together better.
