Sandwich Ingredients
- 2 slices Rye Bread
- 2 tsp Unsalted Butter
- 4 tbsp Thousand Island Dressing
- 2 tbsp Boar’s Head® Sauerkraut
- 2 slices Gold Label Imported Switzerland Swiss® Cheese
- 0.25 lb Boar’s Head 1st Cut Corned Beef Brisket
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Butter each slice of rye bread generously on one side, ensuring even coverage. Then, place the bread slices buttered side down in a preheated skillet over medium-low heat for toasting.
- Spread Dressing: While the bread begins to toast, spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing evenly on the unbuttered side of each bread slice. This will add a creamy, tangy flavor base for the sandwich.
- Layer Sauerkraut and Cheese: Evenly distribute 2 tablespoons of sauerkraut over one slice of bread on top of the dressing. Then place a slice of Swiss cheese over the sauerkraut, and another slice of cheese on the other slice of bread over its dressing.
- Add Corned Beef: Pile 0.25 lb of thinly sliced corned beef brisket on top of the sauerkraut and cheese side of the bread, creating a hearty filling.
- Assemble and Grill: Press the two bread slices together to form the sandwich, with cheese and filling inside, buttered sides facing outwards. Continue grilling the sandwich in the skillet over medium-low heat until the bottom bread is browned and crisped, about 3-4 minutes.
- Flip and Finish: Carefully flip the sandwich over and grill the other side until it is equally browned and the cheese has melted, about another 3-4 minutes. Remove from skillet once both sides are crispy and golden, and cheese is melted.
Notes
- Use medium-low heat to prevent burning while allowing cheese to properly melt.
- For best flavor, use high-quality corned beef and Swiss cheese.
- Pressing the sandwich gently during cooking helps meld the ingredients together.
- You can serve with extra Thousand Island dressing or pickles for added tang.
- To make multiple sandwiches, keep cooked sandwiches warm in a low oven set at 200°F while preparing others.
