Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)
- ¼ cup tahini
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- 2–3 tablespoons water (as needed for texture)
For Garnish (Optional)
- Paprika
- Olive oil
Instructions
- Combine Tahini and Lemon Juice: In a food processor, add the tahini and fresh lemon juice. Process this mixture for about 1 minute until it becomes smooth and creamy, forming the base of your hummus.
- Add Flavoring Ingredients: Add the minced garlic, olive oil, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt to the tahini-lemon mixture. Blend again to fully incorporate all ingredients and enhance the flavor profile.
- Incorporate Chickpeas: Add the drained and rinsed chickpeas to the processor. Process for 1–2 minutes until the mixture turns thick and smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary to ensure even blending.
- Adjust Consistency: While the food processor is running, slowly add 2 to 3 tablespoons of water to achieve the desired creamy, smooth consistency. Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning by adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer your finished hummus into a serving bowl. For extra flavor and presentation, drizzle olive oil over the top and sprinkle with paprika if desired. Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or use as a delicious spread.

- For extra smooth hummus, peel the chickpeas before blending.
- Store leftover hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
