Scale
Fudge Base
- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Add-ins and Toppings (Optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- Holiday sprinkles or crushed candy canes for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides to allow easy removal of the fudge once set.
- Melt Ingredients: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter. Stir continuously to prevent burning and ensure the mixture melts evenly until smooth and fully combined.
- Add Flavorings and Nuts: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and chopped nuts if using. Mix well to evenly distribute all ingredients.
- Pour and Top: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula. If desired, sprinkle holiday sprinkles or crushed candy canes on top for a festive touch.
- Chill: Place the dish in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or until the fudge is firm and set.
- Cut and Serve: Using the parchment paper overhang, lift the fudge out of the dish. Cut into 36 small squares and serve.
Notes
- Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks to maintain freshness.
- For a flavor variation, substitute white chocolate chips or swirl in peanut butter before chilling.
