- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
Flavorings
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1–2 jalapenos, seeds removed and finely chopped (adjust based on your spice preference)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional
- 1–2 tablespoons water (to adjust consistency)
Instructions
- Combine base ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, and chopped cilantro until well combined.
- Add seasonings and jalapenos: Stir in the finely chopped jalapenos, lime juice, garlic powder, ground cumin, and salt and pepper to taste, making sure everything is evenly incorporated.
- Adjust consistency: If the dip feels too thick, gradually add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water and stir until you achieve your preferred consistency.
- Taste and adjust: Sample the dip and add extra salt, pepper, or lime juice as needed to enhance the flavors to your liking.
- Chill: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and develop.
- Serve: Present the dip chilled with tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or use it as a zesty topping for tacos, grilled chicken, or fish.
Notes
- Remove jalapeno seeds to reduce heat or leave some seeds in for extra spice.
- Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier variation.
- The dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Adjust lime juice and jalapenos based on your flavor and spice preferences.
