Description

This comforting Chicken Stuffing Bake combines tender, juicy chicken breasts with savory stuffing and a creamy sauce, all baked to golden perfection. It’s an easy, all-in-one casserole perfect for a hearty family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Stuffing

  • 1 box (6 oz) stuffing mix (any flavor)
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Sauce

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Topping (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Stuffing: In a bowl, mix the stuffing mix with 1 1/2 cups of hot water. Stir well and let it sit for a few minutes to fully absorb the water and soften.
  3. Mix the Sauce: In another bowl, combine the condensed cream of chicken soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  4. Assemble: Arrange the chicken breasts evenly in the baking dish. Season them lightly with salt and pepper. Spread the creamy sauce mixture evenly over the chicken breasts. Then, top the chicken and sauce with the prepared stuffing. If using, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  5. Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the stuffing on top turns golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let the dish rest for a few minutes after removing from the oven. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, then serve warm with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Use any flavor of stuffing mix that you prefer, such as herb, chicken, or traditional.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked through by checking internal temperature with a meat thermometer.
  • Omitting cheese makes this dish lighter but less rich.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated within 2-3 days.
  • For extra moisture, add a little chicken broth to the sauce mixture if desired.
