Ingredients
Scale
Wonton Chips
- 25 wonton wrappers, sliced in half diagonally
- Cooking spray, for spraying
Crab Rangoon Dip
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened and cut into cubes
- 1 (6-ounce) can lump crab meat, drained
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 scallions, chopped, plus more for garnish
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the wonton chips and dip.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Arrange Wonton Triangles: Slice wonton wrappers diagonally and arrange the triangles on the baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced out without overcrowding. Work in batches or use multiple sheets if necessary.
- Spray Wontons: Generously spray the wonton triangles with cooking spray to help them crisp up during baking.
- Bake Wonton Chips: Bake the wonton triangles for 5 to 6 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Mix Dip Ingredients: In a small baking dish, combine the softened cream cheese cubes, drained lump crab meat, mayonnaise, sour cream, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, chopped scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
- Bake Dip: Place the baking dish with the crab mixture in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is melted, bubbly, and heated through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven, garnish with additional chopped scallions if desired, and serve warm along with the baked wonton chips for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute lump crab meat with imitation crab if preferred, but fresh or canned lump crab offers the best flavor and texture.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes or a splash of sriracha to the dip mixture.
- Wonton chips are best served immediately after baking to maintain crispness.
- If you prefer a richer dip, you can add a little shredded cream cheese on top before baking.
- Make sure to drain the crab meat well to avoid excess moisture in the dip.
