Marinade:
- 2 pounds flank or skirt steak
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, cilantro, garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Marinate the Steak: Place the steak in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish, pour the marinade over it, seal, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 8 hours.
- Grill the Steak: Remove the steak from the marinade, let it come to room temperature, preheat a grill or grill pan, grill the steak for 4–6 minutes per side, then let it rest before slicing thinly against the grain.
- Serve: Enjoy your Carne Asada with tortillas, salsa, and your favorite toppings.

- For best flavor, marinate overnight.
- You can also broil the steak in the oven if a grill isn’t available.
