- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Egg Wash and Topping:
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- Coarse sugar for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pie: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate.
- Make the Filling: Toss sliced apples with lemon juice. Add sugars, flour, spices, and caramel sauce. Pour into crust and dot with butter.
- Assemble and Bake: Place the second crust over the filling, seal edges, and vent the top. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sugar, and bake for 45–50 minutes.
- Finish and Serve: Let the pie cool before slicing. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce before serving.
