Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Seasoning
- 1 pound flank steak or skirt steak
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Crostini
- 1 baguette sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
- 3 tablespoons olive oil for brushing
Toppings
- 8 ounces burrata cheese, torn into pieces
- 1/3 cup balsamic glaze
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped or torn
Instructions
- Prepare the Crostini: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden and crisp, then remove from oven.
- Season the Steak: Pat the flank steak dry with paper towels. Season all sides evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to enhance flavor.
- Sear the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the steak in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium-rare doneness, or longer based on your preference.
- Rest and Slice the Steak: Transfer the cooked steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Then slice the steak thinly against the grain for tender bites.
- Assemble the Crostini: Top each toasted baguette slice with a piece of torn burrata cheese, followed by one or two slices of steak. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle fresh basil leaves over the top.
- Serve: Serve the assembled crostini immediately to enjoy the crisp texture and fresh flavors at their best.
Notes
- For maximum crispness, assemble the crostini just before serving to prevent sogginess.
- Add a smear of pesto under the burrata cheese for an added burst of flavor.
- Leftover steak can be used to prepare these crostini, making it a great option for using up cooked meat.
