Ingredients
Scale
Sauce:
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl or jar, whisk together the soy sauce, water, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch until smooth.
- Use immediately in your favorite stir fry, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. To use, add the sauce to a hot pan with cooked meat and vegetables. Stir constantly for 2–3 minutes until thickened and glossy.
Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using.
Notes
- This sauce thickens as it cooks, so be sure to add it near the end of your stir fry.
- Adjust sweetness and spice to taste.
- For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
