Description

This homemade stir fry sauce is the perfect blend of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors. Easy to make and versatile, it’s a must-have for your Asian-inspired cooking.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl or jar, whisk together the soy sauce, water, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch until smooth.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using.

  3. Use immediately in your favorite stir fry, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. To use, add the sauce to a hot pan with cooked meat and vegetables. Stir constantly for 2–3 minutes until thickened and glossy.

Notes

  • This sauce thickens as it cooks, so be sure to add it near the end of your stir fry.
  • Adjust sweetness and spice to taste.
  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
