Ground Beef Mixture:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Other Ingredients:
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven and Prepare Beef Mixture: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet until browned. Add garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Cook Noodles and Prepare Cheese Mixture: Cook egg noodles; drain. Mix sour cream and cream cheese until smooth.
- Assemble and Bake: In a baking dish, layer noodles, sour cream mixture, and beef sauce. Repeat layers and top with cheddar cheese. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
- This casserole can be assembled ahead and refrigerated overnight or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Thaw before baking.
- For a little heat, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
