Ingredients
Scale
Marinade
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dill weed
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt, a big pinch
- Freshly ground black pepper, a big pinch
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (optional)
- 1 lemon, zested and cut into wedges
Main Ingredient
- 2 pounds raw extra jumbo shrimp (16–20 count), peeled and deveined
- Chopped fresh dill (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Mix the marinade: In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, dill weed, paprika, garlic powder, and generous pinches of kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. If using, add the baking soda and lemon zest. Whisk everything together until well blended to create a flavorful marinade.
- Prep the shrimp: Pat the raw shrimp dry with paper towels to ensure the marinade sticks well and the shrimp crisps up nicely. Add the shrimp to the marinade bowl and toss thoroughly, making sure each shrimp is fully coated with the seasoned mixture.
- Air fry the shrimp: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C). Arrange the shrimp in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between each to allow even cooking. Air fry the shrimp for 5 to 6 minutes until they turn pink, curl up, and develop slight browning on the edges. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately, garnished with fresh lemon wedges and chopped dill if desired.
Notes
- Using baking soda is optional but helps tenderize the shrimp and makes them extra juicy.
- For best results, make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation.
- If you prefer spicier shrimp, add a pinch of cayenne or chili powder to the marinade.
- Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
- Leftover shrimp can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently to maintain texture.
